i think many would agree this has not been the 'BEST' Summer so i'm rather glad that its passed by so quickly....or maybe that's just me losing track of time?

Admittedly, my summer has been an extremely busy one and unfortunately not as a social butterfly, but a hard working horse being flogged for every ounce of energy I can muster.

June 2008 saw the success of my Charity Philippine Generation's FIRST EVENT! Philippine Cuisine!

July 2008

I managed to hook up with my old college friends for one last hurrah before my best friend Adam walked down the aisle to his doom into the marriage pit. The Theme of that night's lovely dinner "I Object!":)

Elms and I also attended our first wedding of 2008. congratulations David and Bessie.

August 2008

I managed to find the time to watch the all Brilliant DARK KNIGHT! Although I'm not inclined to agree that Heath Ledger executed an Oscar Winning performance, he did play the Joker disturbingly well. Granted he needed to throw in a few more gags, but overall, I walked out of the screening more satisfied than my last movie, Sex and the City (which in hindsight, is a crap movie)

Elms and I also attended the second wedding of the year on 8th August 2008, a date where i understand A LOT of couples tied the knot on this 'lucky day, year'. Congratulations Ads and Michelle and all the other newly weds out there who tied the knot on 08.08.08!

on that note...i think I shall end my update. Rest assured the above may not seem that much to warrant my opening comment. But i think its sufficient information to catch up with my life to date.

...because I have piss poor time management. its 2:08am and i've only managed to find the time to slot in a bit of blog time now? after FIVE months?.

you know why? Its because i spend too much time on blumming Facebook.

but right now, i'm off to bed or else i won't wake up in time for work...again. Me thinks i should invest in a good alarm clock, but i'd probably be served with an ASBO for waking up half the Borough.

I Luv Live

I've recently regained contact with a couple of lads who I grew up with. It was a good 13 years ago when I last saw them at a friend's birthday party. The next time I was privy to their mugs was on ITV's X-Factor (bootcamp stage!). Who knew that Mark and Noel better known as the 'A Jay's' were so vocally blessed...I honestly didn't know.

Anyhoo. I recently attended a showcase gig that the A Jays helped organise called I Luv Live in Market Place, London. Totally awesome night! The talent was stupendous from all artists including the A'Jays, Charlotte O'Connor, Szjerdene & special guest Sonny J. Mason, who I am informed just returned from the U.S recording with Duran Duran & Angie Stone.

Should your first house be your 'Dream House'?

My Partner and I have just acquired our first house...a cute little 2 bedroom not far from family or friends. Some would say unwise move in light of the current market climate, but it had to be done sooner or later and house prices in London are not exactly going down.

Upon announcing receipt of the keys, a friend called to congratulate me and asked "Is it your dream house?"....and it made me wonder, if i was going to make such an expensive purchase, should my first house have been my Dream House?

I am attached to this little house...the cute double glazed windows...the through lounge and the huge lazy bath tub! But I can say without a shadow of a doubt its not my Dream House or even my Dream First House. Its not my dream location and its certainly not a place where I want raise a family (if i ever were to have one).

But this is my stepping stone. Maybe my Dream House will come in time...but for now I will enjoy my...correction 'our' new home. I gota stop thinking in singular and start thinking collective! This is gona be tougher than I thought.

2008 has started off very nicely....stuffing our faces! Last week was Theresa (my old sparring partner & my best friend's girlfriend's) birthday. We celebrated at Cape Town Fish Market indulging in the Deep Blue's delights such as Surf & Turf, Butterfly King Prawns, Sushi and Oysters.

T wowed us with her uber red high heels and extra long lashes. But for greedy little me, the best bit of the night was obviously the cake! You will always find me near the birthday cake, especially those from that little bakery in China Town! mmmmm! yummy!!

2008 Resolutions

Last year I did a Piss Poor Job of my resolutions, so this year I'm going to make it oh so slightly simpler:

1. Give up McDonalds for the year - you will note I have not given up Fast Food entirely! Now THAT would be crazy!

2. Read the entire Harry Potter Book Set - i've steadfastly avoided these books in the past because I despised the publicity it got. But thanks to my 2007 Secret Santa, I am minded to emabark on the HP Train to Hogwarts...lets see how good these books really are.

3.....still thinking about this one. Maybe I won't have a 3rd Resolution this year because of the difficulty of the 1st one.

Post of December 2006 i recall saying...

"As I look back over 2006, many good things have happened in the past 12 months that I fear it can only go downhill next year....2007 is going to be my make or break"

Well i can safely say i rolled down the hill of 2007 and it almost broke me....almost. I'm so relieved 2008 has arrived. I have been subject to so many disappointments and heartache that I cannot bear to even recap. However I cannot say 2007 has been all bad.

I would like 2008 to bring me what I wanted in 2007...a home with my Partner and to be happy in my career. Not asking for much am I? Obviously for that to happen, I know the onus is on me to 'make' it happen. The movements i made last year were not successful. So I aspire to make stronger and bolder movements, so that this year will not be another 2007!

But I will not start the New Year downhearted and downtrodden! I started the New year with good friends and family, enjoying my one and only vice...POKER! And I start as I mean to go on - no, that does not mean I'm going to gamble my life away.

ROLL ON 2008...its going to be a GOOD ONE! Wishing you ALL good fortune, love and prosperity for 2008!

Everyone has a favorite pair of trainers, Adidas Superstars, Converse All Stars, Reebok Pumps...mine are Nike Air Max 95's. I'm not trainers obsessed, in fact a pair of trainers can last me a good few years (much to my partner's dismay). But majority of the trainers in my adult life have been Max 95's. Such a simple, classic but trendy design and most importantly - oh such bouncy cushy comfort.

To my absolute delight JD Sports have released them in a gorgeous combination of black & brown suede, leather & mesh. Those who know me well, will always spot me with a brown coloured item (or two), whether it be brown boots, my brown puffy coat, my brown Adidas Superstars or my Brown handbag! i know, I know, call the fashion police. I should get out more...but I MUST have these!

I LOVE Autumn! Out comes the Turtle necks, boots, warm fluffy coats, the leaves turn golden and the new seasons of all my fave TV shows starts! yay me. Things have started rather tentatively but it is a platform of good things to come...

SMALLVILLE Season 7 - many people lost interest in Smallville 3 years ago. As i said to my best bud, Marc, I cannot give up on my Superman. Could it truly be the final season? Kara has joined the cast listing, a sign that she is to appear in most of this season's episodes. Not too sure about the choice of actress, but only time will tell. The groundwork is being set and the pawns strategically placed for the transformation of Clark into Superman...i know we are all waiting for Clark to fly.

HEROES Season 2 - with last season's rather anti-climatic ending, I'm sure everyone is gagging for some good stuff in the new season. New characters introduced, Peter Petrelli ends up in *********, Claire still needs to grow up and what is Mrs Petrelli's power????! But again much like the first season, season 2 starts off rather slow paced, so it can only get better from here...

BROTHERS & SISTERS Season 2 - this is a gem of a show. I cannot fathom how a family can be as dis-functional and functional as the Walkers. But i enjoy their constant bickering, outbursts and quip political digs, yet they flock to protect each other in a moments crisis. In the new season, will Kitty and Senator McCallister actually reach the altar? Will Kevin ever find true love? Is Saul gay?

BIONIC WOMAN Season 1 - yay to the Brits! Michelle Ryan hits it off in a big way and she doesn't do too bad either. I'm liking the tough persona of this adaptation, but into the second episode, its getting too soft already. I hope the thick skin holds.

UGLY BETTY Season 2 - although i enjoy UB, its not a show I would put on my top list to watch. I'd watch it in my spare time, or if I have exhausted all my other shows.

I'm also looking forward to SCRUBS, CASHMERE MAFIA (Lucy Liu), Entourage and Spooks to name but a few! For the next 6 months at least, I'll be straining my eyes with too much TV! yay.

undisciplined

Procrastination, disorderly, slapdash, sloppy, haphazard...these are all accurate descriptions of my behavior these past few months.

I take on tasks to feed this unsatisfying taste in my mouth that I have not achieved anything in my life. I WANT to do more, I want to engage in selfless acts, I want to set and meet my own personal goals; I want to do more above and beyond the call of duty! But am I going about it the right way?

I feel like I'm being swallowed up, drowning, in my lack of capabilities, my hesitation, my naivety. I have underestimated my capabilities and now that I have set the standard for myself, so much is expected of me I cannot fathom failure.

As my profile precisely states, "I have this innate desire to accommodate at my expense" and my expense I have unfortunately discovered is my freedom. I don't even have time to read my much loved books.

For the sake of clarification, I don't blame anyone else but myself for my current state of affairs. I have bitten off more than I can chew and I think I'm going to hurl it all up.

Something is going to have to give, and it looks like its going to have to be my social life (temporarily), until I get things in order. And as much as it hurts me (and it HURTS) to say this, but the first thing that needs to stop is Facebooking. OMG, how am I going to cope?

Summer Highlights

Its been awhile since I blogged anything and I blame it on my lack of focus. I do get easily distracted...

FACEBOOK - I'm ashamedly addicted to this network gimmick. I'm addicted to the poking, the super pokes, shaking hamster, Friends Trivia, Never-ending Movie Quiz, Happy Hour, more poking. But most importantly, finding old friends. It'll be awhile before I get bored, until then, it will be the third page I open first thing in the morning when I switch on my computer....after BBC News and Gmail.

TRANSFORMERS - what a movie! Although the buzz of great reviews were floating around before its UK release, I tried not to expect too much. I rarely ever give a movie 10/10 but this one came close to it. There were just one too many 'hot' girls for my liking. I think Megan Fox was more than enough 'hot tottie' for the movie to hold. And what was with crazy idea about taking the All Spark into the heart of the city? Why not just say, lets trash this town!? But....action was just right, comedy was just right, and Michael Bay has set the bar higher for future CGI movies.

CHARITABLE CAUSES - moving on from my post in June about our Second Generation's ethnic identity, I have gotten together with small group people to set up a small not for profit charitable organisation. Our inauguration was a success, now comes the hard work...watch this space.

NEW YEARS RESOLUTIONS: I'm ashamed to say all my resolutions this year have gone to pot. My poor guitar hasn't been picked up in 2 months. I need to work on that...

OTHER STUFF...
Word of Mouth Filipino Special in Camden;
Deep Stack Poker (i lost making ridiculous illogical moves);
Long overdue dinner with old work colleagues and discovering Dan's new boob job (1st person I've ever known to have one);
Reviving my taste buds for cocktails (so loving Mojitos and Coconut Groove);
Making new friends and new associates;
Scavenger Hunt (something completely different to celebrate a friend's birthday) and finally slowly but surely making my way through Part 2 of Book 3 of A Song of Ice and Fire.

With September looming and posting this blog, its only now I realise how much I've done this summer. Funny, because the first 6 months of 2007 were very trying, in fact nothing went right. I hope this second half of the year will see me smiling more.

O2 Arena to see Justin (second time round)

I was not disappointed. Bloody brilliant performance from all stars, Fergie, Justin and of course a brilliant set from Timbaland. Justin certainly does a better job in person than as a CGI. I'm still in two minds of what to think of the O2 Arena.... centre stage in the middle of the arena meant I had a view of Justin's dancers more often than I would have liked.

Sunday, my b/f and I lunched with my best bud and his g/f at the old Millennium Dome, now known as The O2 Centre to check out the new refurb and also watch Shrek the Third. I was rather impressed with the look and and feel of the Centre. I did not share the same enthusiasm for the movie...I was just praying Justin would do a better job when I see him on Wednesday in the O2 Arena.

Brothers & Sisters

I'm currently hooked on ABC's Brothers & Sisters. Its something I'm sure alot of people can relate to, and I certainly do at several levels. The only blood relatives I have in the UK are my parents and my brother. So at one point we sought to create our own little 'extended family' with close friends who we grew up with and shared many moments akin what any 'blood family' would experience.

I've shared so many good memories with my adopted 'cousins', but how do I take the bad? Unlike the 'normal' definition of the family, one normally takes the good with the bad - forgiveness is implicit and you learn to live with it. However the opposite serves as a 'get out clause' of 'extended or nuclear' families. If you are hit with the bad by any member, you can bail out of the circle and cut ties that were never really there to begin with.

Some of my friends say that I sit on my moral high horse and right they are. I am a very principled person. So, when another member of my extended family insults my 'blood' family...what should I do?. Blood is thicker than water and I know where my ultimate loyalties lie.

identity crisis

With MP's today proposing a 'Britain Day' it begs the question, who is 'Britain Day' for? Can you be British without losing your ethnicity? Is British a culture in itself? Can you truly have dual cultures without compromising one against the other?

My friend has taken under his wing a huge project to promote the profile of Filipinos in the UK. In a bid to assist him, I have put feelers out there to ascertain whether this cause will get the support of our fellow brethren and target demograph. I was extremely disappointed. It transpires that the majority of us are so caught up in being British, that we have lost sight of our own roots and original identity.

But that is not the be all and end all of this young fresh project. So watch this space.....

Walking Doormat.

I haven't had cause to rant for awhile until now. 2007 is certainly not my year, in fact I have had a very hard time of it this year.

As my profile depicts, I am loyal to my friends..... to a fault. And I have discovered that fault is my own naivety. This has been highlighted many at time by my other half who complains profusely that my friends take the piss out of me. Looks like it doesn't pay to be humble.

And before one starts assuming my rant is a sponaetenous shortlived reaction to something so insignificant (like 'she said I was fat'!), I assure you, I have been the subject of the inconsiderate, ignorant and even selfish nature of a number of friends. I have literally had the rug pulled out from under me and I'm stumbling all over the place.

So why do I let myself get treated this way I hear you ask? Some may argue my treatment is well deserved and I'm stupid for allowing myself to be put in such a position. Well ignorance may think it has got the better of me, but I have learnt some valuable lessons. I thought I would never have to take a stoic attitude against friends but once I pick myself and brush myself off, things will change.

My brother just got hold of the K810i which if I may say, is a rather snazzy phone (but not much diferent to its predecessor K800i). And now with so many people selling their P990i's, I find myself wondering, should I jump on the bandwagon and snap me up a 3.2mp SE handset as a replacement?

Judging from the pics (1st & 2nd taken with P990i, 3rd taken with the K810i,) there appears to be no significant difference in the picture quality (well at least by my poorly eyesight).

If I was minded to replace one of my handsets with a K810i, which one would it be? I love the lightweight white M600i with features very similiar to that of the p990i (minus the camera feature). But I also love my P990i, that I waited so patiently for despite its size and occasional slowness.

Friends Networks. You either love them or loath them. Much like the age old 'Slum Books' and 'Friendship Books', they are fun to complete but then they are left gathering dust after the hard work is done.

I have joined every network under the sun....Facebook, MySpace, Hi5, Friendster, WAYN, Friends Reunited (to name but afew). But I have to admit Facebook has proved to be more durable than the rest. Those who like to pimp their pages with html etc probably will despise the restricted templates. On the flipside there is more interaction between users and friends and its has a more friendly atmosphere than the super giant MySpace.

POTC At World's End

You will be forgiven for thinking things can't go wrong with a movie starring Johnny Depp and Orlando Bloom (fwoargh!). But even with those two, they couldn't keep the 2nd POTC movie alive. I was hoping the third one would bring everything together and in better form.... and I beleive it might just have done it.

I love, I adore, I swoon for Johnny Depp, but I think at one point (or two) there were a tadd too many Jack Sparrows, that I lost sight of the movie for a split moment. The film lasted just over 2hrs 45mins, of which I had to pay serious attention for most of it. However I was rewarded with entertainment, great special effects and some really good comic gags. Only during the melee of the Pirates and the Blue Coats did it drag on abit (except the rather odd wedding ceremony!?!).

Keira Knightly 'almost' stole the limelight but she just could not convincingly bark orders in an autoritative state pulling off a rather ridiculous shirll. Orlando Bloom is same old Orli, sporting a glowing tan and sexy smooth chest...and he does look dashing adorned in all that black piratey garb. He character actually 'grew a pair' in this movie. I was pleasantly suprised by the ending and just when I thought it was tying up nicely...I was left thinking, POTC just can't end.

I resigned myself into thinking Joe would never come out with another album. I stand corrected....but was it worth the wait?

I'm no expert on music, but I know what I like. This album proves Joe has still got it and can still roll ahead of the young puppies like Ne-Yo and the Cold dude - Omarion(?!) I'm loving this album so much...but wishing there were a couple more upbeat tunes. Currently on repeat on my car stereo 'Get to Know Me (feat Nas). tuuuuuuune!

Dungeons & Dragons baby! GEEKS RULE!

I lost the reading bug a while back. I did pick up the occasional book now and again but nothing that I could fall in love with since David Eddings Belgariad & Mallorean (15 years ago!). Not even the Harry Potter books did it for me. I have been craving for a Fantasy novel that I could sink my teeth into without Hollywood or cartoons spoiling the imagery.

My poker buddy Modupe recommended George R.R. Martin's 'A Song of Ice and Fire' to me the other week. After just completing 'A Game of Thrones', I am hooked. Granted it takes awhile to get your head around all the characters and the story, but it is enthralling and gets your emotions racing. I have never felt so much love and hate for so many characters in a story....and this is just Book One. I'm just abit miffed that I didn't catch this book 10 years earlier...oh well, better late than never.

Resolution 1 - I regret to say has been sidelined, but i will rectify that shortly.

Resolution 2 - No signs of weakness. Not a single piece of chocolate in breach of the rules consumed in 4 months.

Resolution 3 - Finally after 2 decades, Elms and I visited our first set of tourist spots today. We enjoyed our visit to the Tower of London and HMS Belfast and walked end to end of Tower Bridge and London Bridge. It was a pleasant feeling, mingling with the tourists, with an ice-cream cone and a camera-phone, on a sunny Bank Holiday Monday. All that was missing was a map of London and a Jan Sports rucksack!

...by yummy Rupert Penry-Jones. He is no Mr Darcy but Captain Wentworth certainly impressed me in the first half of the new adaptation of Jane Austen's classic. I was won over by his warm blue eyes, stern and steady gaze and sandy blond hair. But as with all Jane Austen heroes, he descended to 'drip' status by the end of the tale.

Taking a little side step, it has to be said this TV adaptation of Persuasion was rather good. I enjoyed Anthony Head's performance as vain and self-satisfied Sir Walter Elliot and Amanda Hale as attention seeking, needy Mary Musgrove.

But back on track to sexy Penry-Jones, I can't wait for his return as Adam Carter in the new season of Spooks, Autumn this year.

300 - Prepare for Glory

And what a glorious sight it was. 300 ripped men adorning what can only be described as metal Y-Fronts, a red cape (much like Superman's), a shield and a sword, hacking away at those pesky Persians in definace to their enemy's attempt to conquer Sparta! yummy!

The dialogue babbles on abit but the movie is a rehash of a graphic novel, so what do you really expect? Its a good hack and slash, with great action, cinematography and special effects.

You will also notice familiar faces such as Faramir from Lord of the Rings and Eudorus from Troy.... and can you spot dishy Karl from Love Actually?

After The Event

So much for keeping a low profile...thanks to my Beloved and my two best buds, they conspired, schemed and concocted to produce a stupendous surprise Birthday Party for moi on Saturday.

Big super duper thank you to Elms, Jane and Rox. I dont know what I'd do without you all. I love you to bits! Thank you also to all who came including Marcus_Lexus, Theresa_Corsa & Co; Arth & Russell; BWC; 6th Form; Vannessa; Chich; Terrence and Dimple. I hope you all enjoyed yourself (i recall someone smooching in the corner....). I myself had a 'FANTABULOUS' time!

Its times like these that make you realise the important people in your life and I am ever so blessed to have friends like you all. Thank you again for making my 30th a truly special one!

Wii Mups

I got my first present this week from my Beloved! I GOT A Wii BABY! I'm not a hardcore gamer, but do love my Nintendo stuff and have a particular fondness for cheesy cute games like Super Mario Bros and party games.

Some say this is a gap filler between the X-Box 360 and the release of the ps3. It may not be a Next Gen machine but its a helluvalot of fun!!

Spring Time

My impending doom is approaching in a matter of days. I've rather enjoyed 4 5 5 and 4 of such an easy and blissfully peaceful life. I didn't fear entering the realm of another year. But THIS YEAR I'm being hurled into the lethal stinking pit of adulthood.

THIS YEAR - I'm avoiding the partying antics in pretty much the same way I'm avoiding admitting this huge milestone I'm careering into.

My only saving grace - I'm exempt from the No Chocolate Rule for that one day only! BRING ON THE CHOCOLATE!

People like to talk to me and I like to listen. Much like a Doctor, but with no remedial return. I don't go out intentionally asking for specific information. I can't help it if people like to talk. Its human nature. Why fight natural urges?

But just for the record, my news certainly is not worthy of gracing the pages of the Daily Star. The information I have amassed concerns the people in my warped little world. I know stuff about those close to my heart to those who barely if ever know me at all. News that could bring positive outcomes and that could destroy happy lives.

My friends joke that I should set up a site called ClaireKnows.com to share my knowledge. I must admit I have flirted with the idea. But in all honesty, do I really want to go there? I'll end up getting hate mail, death threats and probably have to request witness protection from HM Secret Service (OK, admittedly I am a drama queen - serious character flaw).

New Years Resolution 1: I had my first lesson in Bar Chords today and it didn't sound too bad.....if you're a cat. Somehow I have to stretch one finger across whole width of the guitar neck, holding down ALL the strings and still position my remaining free fingers on other parts of the strings to get a pleasant note! One should also note that my fingers are the size of Chipolatas! Who thought of this ridiculous concept? I feel like breaking their fingers!!

I'm abit of a Sci-Fi Geek. My other half told me about this new series called 'Heroes' that is purportedly Uber Cool. I checked out the first 2 episodes and can confirm that it is worthy of 8/10 rating.

'Heroes' tells the story of several people who "thought they were like everyone else... until they woke with incredible abilities" such as telepathy, time travel and flight. These people soon realize they have a role in preventing a catastrophe and saving mankind. Watch out for Hiro who broke the SPACE TIME CONTINUUM!!

Its not cheesy like Smallville or Mutant X. Its gritty, a tad bit gruesome but will captivate those who love their sci-fi, mutants and all things weird and geeky.

My Little Fling with a Convertible

Some of you guys are probably thinking urgh... a Pug. But this 307cc Pug hit a little weak spot. Metallic Black, hard top, 2.0 litre 180 engine, nice interior trimmings, seats were a bit too low (not short people friendly) and I can safely say it wasn't the 'Drive of My Life'. But there's something about driving a convertible that makes me feel all tingly inside. I was vrooom vroooming all over South London in this little beast over the weekend. I even felt a small pang of regret when I gave it back.

New Years Resolutions (amended)

Have you all set your goals for 2007? Lose weight? Sort out your debts? Go the Gym? Eat Healthy? Give up cigarettes? I thought i'd try raise the bar for 2007 and I think I've gotten abit too ambitious...

RESOLUTION 1: Learn (and be proficient) Bar Chords - my guitar lessons started off very well in 2006 so i will continue my education to extend to Bar Chords. I might have to reposition afew finger joints to achieve this.

RESOLUTION 2: Give up Chocolate - for an ENTIRE YEAR i am not permitted to eat anything chocolate. Failure means I have to pay my friend JayJay £50.00! i'm so screwed...no chocolate milkshakes, biscuits, ice-cream, maltesers or ferrero rochers (to name but afew)

RESOLUTION 3: to visit three historic london tourist spots. I've realised I've never truly appreciated London's history and culture. As a resident of London, that is utterly shameful. So in 2007 i shall visit places that I have not been to since i was 5 years old.

...just one last recap of 2006. Secret Santa Showdown in Gaucho Grill Piccadilly - Food & Wine were delectable, the gifts were unique, poems were priceless, and the forfeits were vicious. I will not be posting the forfeit pictures to save those their dignity. But I can divulge that it involved wearing candy underwear and consumption. I'm so priviledged to have friends like my Sixth Form buddies. BIG thanks to Adam who was my Secret Santa for the exceptional poem and the lovely blue gifts. I especially love the slippers.

As I look back over 2006, many good things have happened in the past 12 months that I fear it can only go downhill next year. January 2007 will establish how the rest of the year will run in all respects: my relationship, work, friends, family, personal goals, health, financially, emotionally and spiritually.

Awarded Best Steak Restaurant and so it should. I'm not a steak person but last night i devoured the most delectable steak fillet in my limited world. I didn't have a clue about how to order, so amateur me ordered 225g Bife De Lomo - well done with Bearnaise sauce, a combination of sauteed potatoes with Chorizo and sauteed green beans with tomato, washed down with a bottle of BILLECART SALMON ROSE NV. mmmmmmmm

i'll definately be going back.

I'm still relatively new to Mac and I'm amazed with all the new stuff i'm learning. But this little gimmick has got me smiling. the remote control can magnetically attach to either left/right hand corner of the screen. wow!! [ok, i know i sound freakishly sad...but i dont care!]

My Girls

Looking back at my blogs and I can't believe I failed to mention four of the most important girls in my life, my God-Daughters. I may not have any kids but I love and cherish these girls as if they were my own.

The eldest is Kaylah -very shy girl, but once she warms to you, she oh so sweet and charming. She just started primary school in October and had to have her head glued in hospital a couple of weeks ago when she fell over playing 'Whats the Time Mr Wolf?'

Next in line is Jayda - she is a lovely little madam, bossy but very affectionate. Loves to get her own way and loves all things 'pretty & pink'. She also has a creative streak... loving stickers, crayons, paints and play-doh....now if i can only get her into Lego....

Then there is Jazzy (Jazmine) - This child knows no fear and will (if you dont watch her) climb to the highest point in a room, jump and squeal with delight whilst you frantically scramble to catch her. i love her spirit and sense of adventure. we can giggle over anything and chat about nothing.

Finally beautiful Yssa (Alyssa) - such a tiny little girl, with a twinkle in her eye. but do not be misled by her delicate frame...she is one tough cookie and one stubborn one too as her cousin Jayda will attest. The youngest of my girls loves balamory and dogs (known as Kogs).

Secret Santa 2006

For the past 3 years my old 6th Form buddies & I have added a little spice to the Secret Santa concept, known as forfeits. This year the rules are:

1. £10 budget
2. Gift must be blue
3. must reflect a memory you have of your secret santa
4. Failure to adhere to the above 3 rules will impose a Forfeit to be determined by the rest of the group and must be performed in public on the night we exchange gifts.

Last year I had to give my friend a lap dance in the Ice bar Restaurant because the name of my gift contained the letter 'O'. This year i am DETERMINED not to get a forfeit...but I'm having the most miserable time with this Secret Santa. There is NOTHING BLUE out there....NOOOOTHING!! Anything remotely blue is over budget. I am seriously contemplating getting hold of blue dye/paint and let my 2 year old God-Daughter go to town on a Brown Bear.

I'd like to think those critics who mauled Daniel Craig as a poor Bond replacement are eating a vital body part...if not their words. Although I will admit I was a sceptic at first..... I went to the cinema not to watch Bond, but the movie. However I was pleasantly surprised. Daniel Craig is not as pretty or as tall as his predecessors but he shone in a way that Sean, Roger, Timothy or Pierce could only dream of doing giving Bond a gritty rough cut edge which i LOVE! And my my this odd looking blond Bond does have the most hypnotic eyes...

Bond is not a fanciful butterfly prancing about with a vodka martini in one hand, a skirt in the other, topped off with witty quips and little pistol tucked in his sock. He is a MAN, who looks good holding a gun, looks good kicking ass and looks good in a suit or tight fitting blue shorts. I think DC exposed more flesh, more often than his co-starring Bond Girls. Oh and Sony, i think you made your marketing point. Sony Ericsson Phones are the best - shame about the VAIO.

Its gritty, its funny, its got brilliant action scenes and best of all...Its got Texas Hold 'Em POKER!!

Go watch the movie...and if you have already seen it...go see it again!!

I want to rant!

I want to rant about my unbearable trip to Victoria and back on Saturday. What idiot commissioned engineering works from Bethnal Green to Earls Court on Saturday? that Bright Spark failed to see he/she was suspending pretty much the entire district line.

it is an understatement so say that the effects of that suspension were horrendous. What was supposed to be literally a straight 30min journey ended up being a nightmare 1hr 30mins job. I queued 10 minutes to get on the escalator out of Victoria, I was suffocated by a mans pungent odour, my mother & I were carrying heavy bags and not one sodding young man would graciously forego their seat for her.

I'd rather spend 2 hours in my car in gridlock traffic than 10mins on the stupid f****** London underground.

I went to a strange little place in Kilburn for dinner with a couple of old 6th Form buddies and their friends. It was like no other Chinese I have been to before and I eat a lot of Chinese food! Hot Pot (as my good friend Pammie calls it) is authentic Sichuan cuisine.

it is basically you sitting in front of a boiling bowl of broth on a little stove while you throw in lots of raw ingredients varying from pak choi, king prawns, to beef, to name but afew. The spices are full of flavour and theres no compromise on portions. Do not be misled by the method by which you eat....I was stuffed within the hour and I still had to go through the fish balls, kemp, pork and the squid! suffice to say I walloped the King Prawns. mmmm.... yummy yummy in my tummy!
